The drawings were revised in September last year after our conversation at Haydock when we discussed adding the split hull as an option

Which former is showing the proptube emerging from and how far from the hull floor is it?

          Here you are Bob

These are the drawings for Frame 4 and Frame 5, you can see the propshaft holes in F5 and the clearance is 5mm

Not just a Mk1 Lotus Cortina, this one has Holby carburettors, lowered suspension and a trick paint job.

Timing Belt drive…………£32.00 per drive set

Finally the motor drives awaiting the timing belt drives……….The pulleys and belts are costing the handsome sum of £135.00…..which is an early Christmas present. (VGC Thread 24/11/2014)

So that's a grand total of £343 plus two 60mm scale Prop Shop props @ £97 each (plus VAT) = about £566-ish.

Bargain!! Then there's the battery packs to consider.

They tell me the new, cleaned-up, customer-sensitive and law-abiding Wonga now offers very reasonable loans.

                    Ralph still needs the two props……..The batteries……..Two sets of belts……..Two motors…..Two ESC`s

And then he`s still only got a Ford Cortina………Without the extra`s too!

Now the problems start, fitting first of the side planks and "snap" ,try again and "snap" even when its been in a steam tube for ten mins,

then I made this tatty jig and steamed the plank as I slowly bent it around, problem solved but very very slow, should have Siadwell finished for Haydock……………2016.

Try soaking the planks in hot water [not boiling] for 5 minutes.

Starting the side planking, this batch of planks are very brittle and snap very easy, slowly, slowly, catchy monkey.

I can see the need for a lot of filling and rubbing down……….If you intend to paint the hull

A varnished finish would hide the planking lines better…….How did you finish your MSC hull?

Are you still enjoying the build?

                                Hi gents,

the planking todate, is coming along nicely looking better as I start the sides, its not easy but very rewarding.

The planks are quite even but as you say Bob will require sanding, as of now there are no area's that will need any filling, Paul's plan has worked perfect and the hull has beautiful contours, just needs me to blend together.

Sanding to me is therapeutic and will be done the old fashioned way by hand, once spent three weekends turning rough cast BMW bike engine and gearbox case's into highly polished show piece's for a 50's bobber, so I am used to repetition.

Planking is not easy and slow but very, very satisfying and yes if I paint the hull the plank lines will show but to be honest I quite like the idea of this, it is as the original was made and would possibly add authenticity.

Varnishing would be too much I think unless the super structure is white.

Slowly, slowly, catchy monkey is and old colonial expression, soldiers of the empire used to try and catch the animal's to keep as pets but lacked the patience and agility, they had to be shown how by the native's

                                  Hello Ralph

Your BMW story reminds me of the time in the 50`s, when I polished all the Ali parts to a mirror finish, of my beloved Norton Dominator……..It looked beautiful

I had it for nine years and sold it for……..£9.00!

Your model is coming along very well and the thread is of great interest

Motor choice is an interesting question at the moment

Bob, £9.00 you could put a 1 in front and three 000 behind that now at least, there's not many left now because they used the frames (Norton featherbed) to make Tritons, you can see the bobber in the background on the pictures though not very well.

Motor wise is still in a state of flux, but it will be only two, not the glorious Abell multimotor. probs two 800's, but I have purchased the props, two 4 blade 60mm so am moving on.

Oddly enough a white paint finish will show off the curves better than varnish.

Talk of Tritons has taken me back to my biking days.

Mine was green with 3-speed twist-grip Sturmey-Archer gears – well, technically it was Dad's bike but I used it as often as he did.

Now wonder if you can get a miniature boxer engine?
