Hi – AI is not really something I am a big fan of. However I was trying to work out how to make complicated raised scrollwork, and something called Tripo AI 3D was recommended to me. This is not product placement. It is a question- have you guys ever tried this or similar?Sceptical as I am, I can see the attraction of converting a very complicated stern carving from a drawing (or even photo of real ship) into a 3d printed object. Thoughts welcome!

A non AI alternative is the way I saw similar scrollwork being made for the outstanding model of SL gondola in a recent edition of Model Boats, thpugh that too is all new to me!

Sorry Alasdair never tried it.  I do however know a chap who makes very nice 3D printed figures from photographs so I don’t think the idea is unheard of.
