Although I’m not modelling at the moment, I try and look in every day to see what’s happening.  I never log out but the site still chucks me out every 2 weeks or so.  It took 3 attempts today to log in.

Also, once on the site, there are advertising banners at the top, the bottom and the right.  It’s like watching TV through a letter box.

      Len.

        Hello Len,

Your right it’s not very good and there are very few people on here these days 🙁

Are you on a laptop or desktop computer ? I use a laptop and it’s ok most of the time.

        Regards  Ray

          Hi Ray,

It’s a lap top although it sits permanently on mi desk!

I suspect there might be a lot more people viewing this site than actual authors.  We’ll never know as ‘the number of views’ feature has been deleted.

Unless I can contribute with knowledge to a specific posting I choose not to do so.

          Len. 🙂

            Hi Len,

Yes the lack of folk viewing is frustrating and the seeing who is online at the time was great on the old system 🙂

Still I will keep communicating with the faithful , habit I suppose for the last 11 years 🙂

            Best Regards  Ray

Hi Len, It’s taken me about 20 minutes of sodding about to get logged in – I understand your frustration.

I’ve only been into boat building since I retired about 3 years ago, so I can’t compete with the wealth of experience on this site (therefore don’t post often) but I do check in regularly to see what’s going on and hopefully learn stuff.

Be assured that there are people out there reading the posts even if they’re not replying.

              Dave

It’s not all bad though.  I’ve picked up some lovely Korean and Russian girls friends.  And I’ve only had to send them half my life savings.

I tend to use an Android phone to access the site.  Some days are better than others. Today I got on at the second attempt which is normal.

Yesterday I seemed to be asked how many cyclists, buses or lamposts I could see!  Didn’t seem to get it right so gave up for a while then logged on without any trouble.

Oddly enough my android phone has stayed logged in fir 3 or 4 weeks so far!

Seems to be in the lap of the gods this issue.

Len, as regards the adverts there are lots of Ad Blockers around nowadays, many are free to use.  Some sites such as newspaper sites then stop you accessing their sites if you have the Ad Blocker turned on, so I just move on.  Sometimes Youtube tries to block me but then I just try other Ad Blockers until I find one that Youtube doesn’t recognise.

Hi Richard, thanks for that, I’ll have a look.  Much of the problem seems to be from Model Boats themselves who take 1/3 of my screen at the top and 1/3 on the right hand side.  I’m sure regular viewers don’t even read them but just look for the navigation buttons.

The adverts may be all that’s keeping the Forum afloat!

Understand that Colin, but does the boat have to be that big?  Maybe just a yacht rather than a cruise liner!

Hi Ashley,  don’t know what you looked at!  My phone’s a simple brick that believe it not, can only used for having telephone conversations!  I only use my desk top to view Model Boats.  Every so often I have to log in but I always tick the “keep me logged in button” to avoid going through the process 3 times.  Maybe 3 or 4 weeks is a record?

                                Len. 🙂

Sorry Ashley, read your post as if it referred to my phone and not your own.  Old age!

I used to subscribe to Netflix, then they told me that, if I wanted to access ad free, I would then have to pay an even higher subscription rate.  I chose not to so I am now bombarded with adverts every ten minutes throughout a film.  I’ve now stopped using Netflix.  As for on-line, I object very strongly to my internet access being monitored so that intrusive targeted advertising can be plastered all over every page I look at.

I get it with magazine advertising and don’t have a problem with advertising being used to keep hard copy publications going but I object very strongly to intrusive on line advertising and have used various Adblock apps for a few years now.

And for all that I cannot ever remember buying anything in my entire life as the result of an advert.
