      Hi All

MY wife told me no more boats this year(2025)!!!

      YES dearest !!!

Two days later the Sea Queen arrived .

I had already bought it my dearest !!!

So onto the boat, someone had just stop on it !!!

50 pounds for the boat and 50 pounds postage via E Bay Global Shipping.

It would have cost more in just postage within Australia !!!!!!!

So this how the boat arrived and as per the pictures on E Bay.

Looks like quite a bit of work to do there Harry.

But you are the man for the job.

            HI All

All the decks are off, cutout the bow section for reglue-ing as well as all the frames and stringers inside.

Re-made the forward roof frame and added more timber to the back of frame 1.

The new deck is going to finish at the back of frame 1 because that  I can save the deck skins.

I have de-nail a lot of the boat and going to add chine rails to the boat.

The motor is a Turnigy L5055C-700kv which I plan to run on 4S for about 10,000rpm with a 50mm CNC 3blade prop.

I have started restoring the stern cabin roof, but the forward cabin roof is to be replaced.

              Hi All

A bit work on the boat with new forward deck.

I was not happy with the forward cabin fixed roof, so I am making new ones.

The stern bottom skins look a bit flexible, so I have add double stringers to the last two sections.

The rudder hole is far to big, so that will be filled in and re-drilled later.

Always very rewarding to bring an old boat back to life from a point where many would have binned it.

                  HI Richard

This one was just at the right point for finishing/restoring.

Only some damage to the bow.

So I added chine rails, new forward deck, new stern deck(missing) and new  boat stand.Boat StandStern Deck 1Bow 4Chine Rail 1

                    Hello Me Lads

As I have finished my number three Spearfish which is up and running.

It’s back to the old girl !!!

All the decks are back on and the forward cabin roof finished.

The middle cabin roof has had new skins with a little modification.

The roof finished in a Vee to match the wheelhouse window frames.

So it’s onto the wheelhouse window frames including the side support window frames.

Harry mate, always a pleasure to see you bringing back old boats and giving them a new life.

Although a big job, it looks like a  blanker canvas than your normal rescues with no paint and so on , probably making it a bit easier as you can exactly what needs to be done and not have to shift years and years of old paint?

                        Hi Me Old Fruit,Ashley

Yes, use spray cans now days, but, Humbrol gloss white for the bump and chine rails to make the blue pop a bit.

Both sets of rails are one piece and bent with a heat gun.

I just bought 3 more boats, unstarted Sea Queen kit, a started Huntsman and a rare Dumas Trojan(started).

I really only wanted the Trojan, but, it was bulk buy!!!

Only trouble is the six hour round trip and a tank of fuel.

I still not started by Lesro Sprite kit.

Can you spare a bit of heat we are into WINTER !!!!

                        Harry

                          Hi Harry

I’ve produced some drawings for a bigger Sprite called the Sprite Plus for Bob/Zooma which he is at the painting stage now. I did think about building one with an outboard but have shelved that for now and might build one with a traditional prop but smaller as our lake isn’t that big.

                            Hi Harry,

You cant beat the Old Sea Queen’s my current one has been in the water once this year, I think I have built 4 so far 🙂

The Sea Queen in 1972 with a 35cc two stroke petrol engine my first one !!

                            Best Regards  Ray

                              HI Ray

The Sea Queen is coming along well, but with WINTER down under things may slow down a bit.

The wheelhouse window frames done, chine rails and a new rudder.New RudderNew Window framesStern 3

I just bought an unstarted Sea Queen kit, a started Huntsman(if it’s the D M one) I will built that and sell on one of the other two I have.

The main boat out of this lot was a Dumas Trojan 31″x 12″which is very rare.

Also was given a balsa MTB (I think it is) maybe from a plan from the Model Boat Mag.

Only 12 C today, so if you can spare a few degrees I would say no !!!

                              Cheers

Still have not started the sprite, but do have all the running for it.

                                A C3542-1450kv, 80Amp ESC(3-4S) and a 2 blade 40mm CNC prop.

                                  Hi Harry,

If I have any comment on the original design it would be to extend the keel as a skeg deeper below the prop shaft to protect the prop and rudder in transit 🙂

                                    Hi Ray

With my standard cradle setup my boats do not move on them.

Plus with the house door stoppers on the bottom of the cradle they do not move around in the car.

The Sea Queen takes up a lot of floor space in the car as you know !!!!

                                    Cheers and Beers
