How about us awarding a “Longest Thread” Trophy?
It could be a bobin wound with a Golden Length of String.
Thinking caps on, what more original ideas can you come up with?
            Rick.

Sounds like a grand idea lad. perhaps an annual award with some indicator of the current holder alongside their avatar or perhaps their name in gold one the web editor methinks

Having hightech discussions with ACTIONman……..Where to put the High Amp switches?
                  I suggest `tween the motors?

Note the fan mock up too……It may look small, but it peaks at 9000 rpm and it`s blowing aft………….More exit holes will be required, at the back end

                  Exciting stuff, this?………..Bob

The prototype fan was tested in the drill at 2800 rpm and it blew all the sawdust off the bandsaw…….But it was more draughty around  the peripherery, which is probably OK for swirling the air around the inside of the hull?

                    It`s worth a try?

                    Cutting edge stuff!……………..Bob

This all looks great Bob. At 1st glance the fans look more than adequate, plus when the motors are working hardest you’ll have the areodynamics helping by forcing air into thefor’d intakes. One thing I would like to point out is on aircraft we always make the exhaust vents considrably larger than the inlets as the warm air exiting takes considerably more volume than the cold air entering. Obvious I know but thought it worth a mention. And finally the posty had been when I got home! Thanks again mate these  winch drums are just perfect. Need to get the paint pots out now, and chat with the Action man.

I`m going to fit a nice mesh guard round them.

What do you think of the fan idea, instead of water pipes and scoops etc?

                            Hi Bob,
A great idea, but will it absorb some of the power and thus significantly reduce performance?
                            Rick.

                              Hello Rick

Good question…………Going off the electric drill test……..there was no detectable slowing down of the drill speed………..But we`ll have to see when the great day arrives!

Today, the lake was still frozen over!…….and right now….it`s lashing down with a goodly crop of snow!

At the moment, I`m making large louvred vents at the rear

Bob, marvelous as your fans are, I cant help thinking that a more conventional propeller arrangement, with probably only 2 blades (at 9000 rpm) will shift a lot more air more efficiently…..?

I think also to be really of any benefit you need to get the air, and lots of it,  in ,and out again. Paint the motors black as well,eh?

I was thinking the very same thing…….an aero prop!

Then I thought about a ducted fan blade……..this would look the biz?…..Especially with a tube enclosure!

Can we get ducted fan blades off the shelf?….Anybody know about such things?

Just cut out the rear vent holes on the hull and now working on the louvres

If you fit ducted fans you might run the risk of compressing the air within the hull and having a ‘red faced’ moment as the hatches blow off during a high speed run.
As you have almost re-invented the ‘cooling fan’ system I would hazard the suggestion that you look again at low energy computer CPU fans….not heavy….use very little power…..move air very well.

Lovely looking swag Bob those Turnigy chargers are superb and looks like enough power in the batteries to power a small city. I would imagine the danger of pressurising the hull is very slight as A; the fans are not at the inlet point and B the exhausts are hopefully much larger than the inlets. You could always duct the air from the fans to the exhaust ports, the most likely scenario then is a depression inside the hull sucking the hatches down and lots of cooling air in.
