I have just purchased a really dinky little wattmeter. It plugs in between your battery and your ESC (or whatever) and measures the WATTS..peak watts…voltage and current and peak current (rotatable, by pushing a tiny switch/button..one measurement at a time).

It was £10, and handles up to 30A and 30V.

So easy, no faffing about with wires and mini croc-clips..no accidentally shorting wires out…and of course if you are eagle eyed you can fit it in the boat and see what amps you are pulling as the boat zooms past! Not really of course, but there is a peak amp/watt memory on the thing for checking afterwards.

        Get one. So easy.

I saw that when I was shopping for one, but the same supplier also does a 100A one for not much more **LINK** That's the one I have now.

100A !! Gosh. Must say I didnt see any higher wattage ones, or at least, I didnt really look. Only one thing I have runs at (possibly) more than 30A. the rest are well below so I should be ok. Would have purchased a 100A one if I saw it, but never mind.

DM. I seem to have managed to break the tiny little switch on the side of the unit that toggles between the various modes !!!! Have a feeling it was simply tight in the case and as I shut the lid….

I think it will still work ok, just needs a small screwdriver to use now…Ho Hum.

I may end up getting a 100A after all. I can scare myself and see what the KM draws then.

You're welcome to send it up here for me to see if it's fixable. I'm sure it will be, but with the cost of postage these days (£2.80 each way minimum) you might be better off just buying the 100A one. Barmy, isn't it?

Dave. Its only the top of the little switch. I am sure it will work with a screwdriver. Its not an issue really, its not the sort of thing you use much. Thanks for the offer anyway, I will try it this week end and see whats what.
