Which transmitter

Hi all, this is my first post so I will introduce myself a bit first. My names John, I’m from Lancaster in the North of England and I’ve been out of the hobby for at least 10 years! I’m now 26 and want to get my childhood model tug up and running again. The last time it was used all was well but I removed the receiver to use on another project along with the transmitter .the old transmitter was just 2 channels, left and right on one stick and forward and reverse on the other. Now I’d like to modify the boat a bit and add a single bow thruster spinning backwards and forwards to turn left right. Is it possible to buy a transmitter that has a joystick type control on one side I.e forwards/backwards left/right on one stick and then have the other stick just control bow thruster left and right? Or how has anyone else done this or would they do it?? Any help is appreciated as I don’t have a clue after 2 channels! I also wouldn’t mind a few channels to just use as in and off switches?? It is but they are few and far between, and more expensive than four or five channel sets. For this set-up you would normally put rudder on the RH stick; throttle on the LH stick (Up/Down) and the thruster on the Side to Side LH channel. That leaves you at least one spare channel for other functions.

So is that essentially a 4 channel transmitter with a “joystick” so to speak on each side?! I have looked at 4 channel transmitters online but got a bit confused as some have what look like on/off switches on the top corners and I was thinking that they were different channels?! Also looking at ones on eBay most say they are for planes or helicopters, do I need a specific
