I received a Midwest "Heritage" boiler for a Fathers Day present in 2015. After reading about a fellow model boat enthusiast in Marine Modelling International who had his model stolen, I decided to build this one in sympathy. Plans were sourced on the internet. Hull consists of a mahogany keel, pine bulkheads, balsa planking covered in bandage and car body filler inside and out to give a strong sound construction. Small amount of work done on boiler. All brass fittings turned by myself on lathe and soft furnishings made by my wife. Total build cost £30.
I am 86 years old and have been building model boats since I was ten years of age.
