Hi is there any chance you can tell me where i can get some some detail pics of the vanguard as my dad was on it  and im doiung it for my mam as we buried him not long ago all help is much appreciated

Hi Alan,

 

Here are a few photos of models of Vanguard. The last one is in the RN Museum at Portsmouth Dockyard, the others are in the Britannia Royal Naval College at Dartmouth. There is also an excellent model of the ship built by Alex McFadyen in the museum at the Child Beale Wildlife Park at Reading. Of course if you Google HMS Vanguard you will get lots of photos of the original ship. I remember watching from the beach at Shanklin, Isle f Wight in 1960, when she was towed away for breaking up.

Just remembered, there i also a large model of Vaguard in the London Science Museum’s shipping gallery.

 

Also, if you want a memento of your Dad’s old ship you can buy a high quality 1:1200  collector’s scale model (about 8.5 inches long) and put it into a model collector’s display case.
