What a nice model of your lifeboat.

Could you please tell me the scale.

Is it scratch built or can you buy a kit ?

there isn't a kit available jaimie, but you can buy a hull and superstructure for one in two scaled at 1:16 or 1:12 scale .the smaller one has to be fully scratch built as I don't know of any fittings available for her, but the 1:12 scale comes with a grp hull and superstructure and you can buy white metal fittings that are generic to her and other "modern" lifeboats.

I have never built a scratch model . In fact the only 3 models i have built are shown on my page.

The 1.16 scale grp hull and superstructure sounds interesting and I would like to know where I can buy this. I guess that a lot of the work can be done from photographs and the like.

I am finishing the work on my 1.50 scale model of the Bounty by the end of this year and will then be considering which model I should try my hand at next.

I would love to build a bigger model but space is at a premium here in our house in Spain and I can only really work at it during the Autumn and Winter months as it gets too hot to stay indoors!

I can supply you with any photos you like of our own Tyne class lifeboat at Fleetwood Jaimie, no problems,

and you can het an ABS hull and ( i think ) superstructure from My hobby store affiliated to Model Boats mag, or you can get one in grp from Models by design…….if you want photos once started just pm me your emai address and I'll get them to you.
