      I have been beavering away at Tuscan Star for some weeks now and she is ready to go in the sea when my wife has finished painting it (the sea).

      32'=1". Scratch-built apart from the anchor cables that I purchased!tuscan star.jpg

          What a great looking model Bob, an unusual hatch configuration too, presumably made possible by the fact she was a motorship despite the more conventional funnel in its attractive colours. Have you built it to a commission or simply because you liked it?

            Thanks. Rather an unusual looking ship, but still very attractive. It looks like a passenger liner, but is not! The crew were housed 'midships in the lower section of accommodation. The deck & radio officers were in the bridge section, whilst the accommodation round the funnel housed the engineers and ten passengers. She was a refrigerated cargo ship of about 11,300 gross tons. Twin screw motor ship. I built it simply because I had the plans and liked the look of it. I had also sailed in the Blue Star Line myself. Not a private commission, but quite a lot of interest shown so far.

                Hi Bob.

                Do you still have this wonderful model? My dad was a greaser on board when it was sunk in 1942 and I've just started researching it. I came across your model/post and was blown away!

                I live in Canada but have a daughter in London UK and often visit her. I'd love to see your model if possible.

                Thanks

                Paul

                  Hi Paul,

                  Thanks. I completed Tuscan Star three years ago, and it was snapped up a few days after completion, and sold to someone in the USA! In 2015, I wrote a model shipbuilding book called Miniature Shipbuilder 2015. Amongst other things, it contains plans of the Tuscan Star, with pages 51 to 72 devoted to the building of the model. The book was reprinted sveral times, but now seems to have run its course, and is sold out. It remains available, howver, in the form of a download via this link: **LINK**

                  By clicking the link, and scrolling down a bit, you are not committed to purchase, but may read the synopsis of the book. If you wish to purchase a download, a Paypal/credit card button is provided for £8.

                  The Tuscan Star model is on the front cover (See below).

                  The download files are in PDF (Acrobat Reader) and can be transfrerred to tablets etc for high resolution viewing.

                  Best wishes

                  Bob
