Titanic had been quietly ignored by the Shipping world,Merchant and Royal, until Walter Lord (No relation to the much maligned Captain Lord of California, but Lord Mersey was determined to apportion some blame on some one,) published his book,Night To Remember. Then things hit the fan,and everyone became very indignant, concerned and ,above all, interested.Nothing like a disaster to get people going…Oy Vay.I dont suppose many people have heard of Empress of Ireland, who sank in St lawrence river after a collision in fog with a Norwegian Collier, and lost over a thousand passengers and crew. This happened two years after Titanic.Perhaps, now that the centenary of Titanic has passed, she will be allowed to rest. (Though I doudt it)
