styrene hull finish

After buying a styrene hull pack I was quite disappointed with the finish, it’s very uneven with dips and bumps and not quite symmetrical. What do you guys use to correct this??. It’s like it needs a skim of filler all over. Any help would be appreciated.

I would use the Sale of Goods Act, Jamie. If it's not fit for the purpose for which it was intended then it needs replacing. A moulded hull is intended to eliminate the need for filling and shaping; it should require only a light rub down with fine wet-and-dry before painting. You will have a hell of a job trying to get any sort of filler to stick properly all over a styrene hull without softening or distorting it. Generally I'd use something like Squadron Models Filler only to fill small gaps at joints etc.

well i have emailed them and see what happens , trouble is I started to trim it , took it too my local model shop to get prop/motor and the like and he pointed out how terrible it is, I just want to make a model and this one took long enough to arrive and dont want to lose interest at the first hurdle
