      Hi All,

Following many thoughts through these difficult times, I have decided to get back into my favourite old hobby of all things constructing various scale models of river craft, both past and present eras, of the famous Norfolk Broads etc.

I previously ran a trial back in 2016/17 of 'Broadland Classics', manufacturing scale model working kits of 1930s Broads craft, and now recently retired, I am more into simply showing my works as I progress on various model projects, purely hobby based.

Currently I am constructing a half hull model of the famous Broads Yacht 'Lullaby', from lines plans of the 1930s Hunters Fleet based in Ludham, Norfolk, England, which made it's debut in the BBC's drama series 'The Big Six' and 'Coot Club' as the yacht 'Teasel'.

I have posted photos in the Albums section and will continue to do so as I progress.

It would be wonderful to see any models that members have made of Norfolk Broads Cabin Cruisers, or Yachts, and to share the fun building and sailing experiences etc.

Keep safe out there and enjoy the therapy that model boat construction permits.

      Kind regards

      Paul

          Paul,

Are you aware of the old Shipwright plan of Ring of Light, extracts of which were published in the Reeve & Thomas book?

The plans used to be marketed as part of the Harold Underhill range now sold by Brown, Son & Ferguson but are no longer listed.

            Hi again Colin,

Yes very much aware of the plans, which I have here, however, although Herbert Woods gave permission for the plans to go out, in model making purposes only, certain details were not permitted of the actual lines plans, omitting any possibility of copyright infringement of the real craft, hence the plans you show have quite a few inaccuracies sadly. When I drafted out the model details, from both Herbert woods real craft laid up in broadland boat graveyards, and from architects woods models, I was very keen to gain every possible detail depicting the real vessel. Indeed Herbert Woods youngest daughter Jennifer Woods, now residing in New Zealand, visited us and was overwhelmed with the prototype models we produced. A real fitting tribute to her father. Jennifer wrote a lovely book, 'Herbert Woods, A Famous Broadland Pioneer'. Each of our Light Class model kits were sent out with a complimentary book by Jennifer.

Cheers again though Colin, as many modelers may indeed want to construct the Ring Of Light from the plans you show.
