RC row boat mechanism

Many years ago Model Boats printed an article about building an RC row boat.

How can I get a copy of that article?

You would have to have some idea when it was unless somebody else can remember..

 

Mike Sheppard has had a number of articles published over the years and is well known for his rowing models.

 

If you Google Mike Sheppard rowing model you will get quite a lot of hits.

I had seen the internet video of Monk and Donk rowing mechanism previously but thought to search elsewhere.

 

Your lead got to me “Rowey and Floss” which I feel sure was the basis for the MB article I read many years ago. I don’t know how many years but at a guess it’s was likely in the 60’s.

 

I notice a micro switch in the Monk and Donk mechanism which I think may activate “Donk” to lean forward. Studying the motion I don’t think the movement is the result of being pulled or pushed by the oars. Perhaps the micro switch activates a push rod and spring under “Donk”?

 

Do you know anything more about the rowing mechanism than can be seen in the video?
