I will shortly reside in Calne, near Chippenham, Wiltshire, and have previous experience in ship modelling 1:48 scale. I am currently preparing plans for HMAS Armidale, an Australian Patrol Boat, but I cannot find a local stockist for scratchbuilding supplies, i.e. brass rod, fittings; wood, styrene sheet, batteries etc. Can anybody please direct me to the nearest well stocked supplier.

I know its a long way South of you, but there's http://westbourne-model.co.uk Westbourne models in Bournemouth and also several other model shiops specialising in model yachts.

I'm told it's an Aladdin's cave of goodies – wish I lived as close as you will.

Thanks Kimosubby, I know Westbournes but it's a bit too far to nip for bits and pieces occasionally. Perhaps I should move! Surely there must be a model shop in places like Bristol or Gloucester which are easier for travel purposes, or perhaps there is a model boat club in the vicinity here who can direct me to their supplier.
