Sorry for the late reply. I've been feeling under the weather while still woking on updating my website, virtualight.com. Would you have a link to the boat, or is it not on the website. Clicking your link takes me to http://www.alwayshobbies.com/ and I assume it's the same site under a different name.

Our weather, by the way, is clear and cold, although today may reach the 50s. I'm a little upset that I'm missing my Sherlock Holmes scion society meeting, as it is the great detective's birthday.

Sorry for not posting of late, but I've been pre-occupied with my B-17 model. I promise to try again to contact Anglo-Welsh and if they want my custom again, they'd better answer.

But I thought I might mention that tomorrow I plan to go to the monthly meeting of Rocky Mountain Shipwrights, the model ship building club that meets in Denver. Of course the meeting is at 9:30 a.m. and I am not an early riser, but I thought I'd elicit advice on how best to tackle the narrowboat.

My impression is that these are plank on bulkhead sort of modelers, who may look down on a styrene builder. But a recent article in The Denver Post said they welcome all skill levels.

Jennifer. I am sure that they will be ok. There is nothing like talking to people in the flesh, as it were to benefit from their experience and get ideas.

I was just wondering if a lot of them will know what a narrow boat is, though !!

Thanks Ashley and Larry. I had a great time with the Rocky Mountain Shipwrights and my blog has an article about the meeting. I didn't get to ask too many questions about how I might make my model (although they all seemed to think it should be made of wood). Perhaps if I go to their monthly workshop I'll get a better idea how to proceed.

I think I have decided not to make the model radio controlled. The fun of a narrowboat is operating the locks, not steering it (and in my experience, you need several people with gaffs, poles and hooks to help). I might want to make the scale small enough to include a cutaway of a lock.

                Jennifer
