Mix and match

Hi, new to radio control and need a little advice.

I have Spektrum transmitter and receiver, do i have to use Spectrum servo's or can i use HI-Tec – Futaba or others and mix and match?

Generally speaking you can mix and match as you like. The only slight problem you may come across is that the Futaba plugs have a key in one edge so that it can only be inserted into the receiver the correct way. Spektrum receivers dont have the keyway to accomodate the Futaba key but you can if you wish just trim off the key with a sharp knife or file.

I do this myself without problems. I also mark the plugs and receiver case with a dab of paint so I can’t get the plug wrong way round.
