I came across an error in the magazine – History, Flotsam and Jetsam, Veron Kits. Page 48, the top photograph reads – BELOW: Very few parts make up the Viceroy Kit. Should read – ABOVE: Very few parts make up the Viceroy Kit. As the photograph is above the text.

Am I going to get 'wound-up' and give up the forum and stop reading the magazine – certainly not! Life is too short. Magazine is excellent bedtime reading, couldn't bear the thought of looking at a computer screen or phone after 21:30.

Surely if the Editor considers an error to be a problem, he/she will place an Errata (column) in the next publication.

The Veron item is certainly worth reading to those who have interest in the models of the past.

I think that there is a certain mindset which relishes finding trivial 'mistakes' and wallowing in them. I had several schoolmasters whom I suspected of this, yet in spite of my occasionally appalling Latin-English translations and my flat refusal to grasp second-order integral Calculus the world continued to turn, untroubled by either.

I'm sure they were simply paid to give the appearance of giving a toss……..

          The world is turning?

When did this happen, are we safe or will we spin off into Jupiter?

Is this all because DM refused to accept some simple sums………..has anyone told NASA.

I know the world turns because I watched Dr Brian Cox on telly…………..well, I watched about the first 15 minutes then I fell asleep. Like David Attenborough's programs, I need several attempts to get through one awake. Dan Cruickshank is another presenter like them – they all have that slightly breathy, hypnotic delivery. Thank goodness for BBC iPlayer.

Mind you, that Prof Cox was on about 'centrifugal' force last time, and I think Dr T and I are both centripetal force believers. It's all to do with the maths, you know (and so do NASA).

            BTW I think we're safe because we're still here…

Did not know about all this ruckus until I had a NOT nice reply on one of my topics and did a little searching. I have followed DM's action and clicked ignore member. I thought this would simply prevent future communications but a good thing (that I did not expect) is that it also deletes the entry from the topic, expletives and all. Job done.

Did the "not nice" reply also come from the originator of this thread? Clicking "Ignore member" only hides that person's posts from you – it doesn't affect anyone else's view of them. If it was that same person then I have to say that now would be a good time for Admiral Bishop to press the Bozo Button. He'll know the one I mean…

I'm not aware of any recent scurrilous posts but if someone can PM me with further details I will look into it. I thought this problem was dead and buried long ago though.

                    Dear Dave and Colin,

This is a small thing and not something to concern yourselves about. I've taken my action and that's where the matter can rest.
