      Hi all at Model Boats,
Firstly thanks for a excellent magazine.A question I often ask myself is are we ever likely to see M.B magazine take a stand at the model boat shows around the country.
We are well used to seeing MMI at several shows and personally enjoy the opportunity to meet the Editor and be able to purchase items that are offered in the magazine.
I find it odd that as one of the two main, if not only magazines for our hobby in this country you are not more pro-active on the exhibition circuit. This is not intended as a criticism, but know that your presence would further enhance the shows and hopefully for yourselves encourage more subscribers.
Doubtless, finance dictates what you can achieve but I would hope to see you at shows one day.
      Regards Andy (Balders)

what? no comments from our leader?!!

I would have thought that was a great idea….we could then pick their brains as to choice of articles and such in the mag!!

If you mean me Neil, I just edit the website on a freelance basis and have no involvement with the MHS business model!

However, modelling magazines are produced on very tight budgets, (MB is put together by just 1.5 staff) so there is only limited scope for extra curricular promotional activities. Attendance at shows is pretty expensive as any trader will tell you and I think those responsible for MB prefer to put their resources and energies into providing significantly more editorial material than appears in the ‘other magazine’ plus you have the opportunity to express your views on editorial policy at any time on this Forum (again a facility not provided elsewhere).

Paul Freshney does provide a commentary in each issue which frequently touches on his editorial polices and I understand that the current sales figures suggest that he has got a pretty good balance to meet readership expectations.

As I only do this on a part time basis I don’t mind coming on here on a Sunday evening but I suspect Paul might be less enthusiastic in giving up his weekends when he has a full time day job as well!

No, Colin.didn’t mean you at all. Like myself, you are of an age( and don’t mean to be offensive by saying so) but we are too old to go galavanting around the countryside to all the big shows to then do a weekend’s work……go to relax and enjoy!….., no, leave that to a younger person, lol
