Jackie White RIP (Model Slipway)

I have just received the sad news from Lawrie White that his much loved wife Jackie passed away peacefully yesterday. She had been suffering from an aggressive brain tumour since before Christmas which was one of the reasons for Model Slipway closing down and being unable to respond to subsequent enquiries in recent weeks.

Both she and Lawrie also contracted Covid 19 and spent time in hospital, Lawrie was particularly seriously affected and the outcome was in doubt at one point. Fortunately he made it through and was able to care for Jackie in her last days and was with her at the end.

Many of us will have had contact with Jackie over the years and remember her patience and unfailing helpfulness as the ‘face’ of Model Slipway both in running the business and in appearing at many shows over the years. She will be very much missed.

I send my sincere heartfelt condolences to Lawrie and his family for this tragic and sad loss of his wife, in the most horrible of ways.

I lost my mother in law and sister in law too the same horrible illness some 20 and 30 years ago respectively, and those memories of their suffering still hang heavy upon us as a family.

God bless you and your family Lawrie at this sad time, and my prayers go with you all.

As A show organiser it was allways a sheer pleasure to deal with Jackie a very very sad day for us all and i wish my sincere condolances to Lawrie and the Family may she rest in peace

Just when Laurie should be enjoying his well earned retirement with his lovely lady she is taken away from him. Incredibly sad day. I’m sure we have all had conversations with Jackie both on the phone and at events and immediately realised what a warm and helpful lady she was.

So sorry to hear this sad news. It was always a pleasure to do business with Model Slipway and Jackie and Laurie were always a delight to meet. Their knowledge regarding boats and fittings was legendary and the hobby and modellers have lost a good friend. RIP
