Afternoon folks. Apologies if this subject has been discussed before, but as im only an occasional visitor to the forums, this particular topic may have passed me by. Im looking to purchase Kingston Mouldings island class OPV as my next project. Having built most of my models from kits, I am looking to take things to a new level. I am quite happy constructing items like the superstrctue/wheelhouse ect from the plans, but when it comes down to the finer detail, where can I source fittings from? The models scale is 1/60 and after browsing the net im finding fittings very scarce. In particular im trying to source a suitable deck gun. I would be very interested to talk to any modellers who have had experience in building this particlar model, or anybody who could point me in the direction of fittings at this scale!. Thanks, Chris

Chris. I built one of these about 27 years ago now. I wasnt too much into it really then so i didnt put in much detail. I used a Bofors gun from I think an Airfix Torpedo boat !! it is a bit small but I cant be bothered now to change it. You may have to scratch build most of the bits , as you say, not a common scale.

BUT what a fantastic sea boat ! They were very weatherly in real life and the model is fantastic. I tried mine out on the real sea and it was simply fabulous.

Thanks for your reply Ashley. That looks rather good and well built! And from your pic it seems very seaworthy!! I never gave the airfix kits a thought, but that is a good route to follow. thanks for your input! if you have any more pics, could you post them up?

Couple more pics in album, sorry not so different to the last one! Built it so long ago didnt take construction photos, and since thgen it has gotten steadily more beaten up…

It has had more motors tried out in it than all the others put together i think. Currently it has a 555 in, on 12v gel battery and an s50 plastic prop. This combination seems to work very well..plastic prop only on there as I used the brass one for something else, but probably a 45mm brass 3 blade prop would go as well.
