Hi has anyone ever had any issues with howes models the reason I say is because I recently sent back a radio set that I received from them it turned up in the box all loose had no packaging inside to stop it from smashing around or instructions so I sent it back wondering if it was an ex demo been sent by mistake..well they was very helpfull and ensured me it wasn't and they didn't no why there was no packaging with it and we agreed for them to send it back correctly packaged with instructions after it had been tested. All that aside I was pleased with there service until….5 hours later out the blue howes rang me a guy called John basically saying I was a lier and all radio sets are checked before being sent out well with this I was fuming and argued back he eventually put me on the phone to the man I ordered from who then said he was sorry and he didn't have time to check the set I was sent so basically he rang me for an arguement accused me of bein a lier and he didn't have the facts correct about checking items before being sent. Well I got an apology but overall am fuming with this company and there customer service especially since the. Problem had all ready been dealt with the radio set already posted back to me so what was the need to phone me and call me a lier as a customer if the item you receive is just thrown into a box without anything protecting it or instructions you have the right to return it not get called a lier!!

I don't think that ranting on this forum will help your cause much, although you may receive more sympathy on other Internet model boat forums…. Without wishing to imply anything, we only have your version of events to judge them by, but I can tell you that this is far from normal behaviour from any member of Howes' staff, at least in my experience.
Only you can decide what to do next e.g. pursue the matter further with them; walk away and never deal with them again, or just allow for the fact that there may be another reason why John was having a bad day and you were unfortunate to cop for it. They have apologised so I would leave it at that if I were you.

Speaking from experience from buying from Howes I can only say that I have never had anything but 1st class service from them, nor have I ever heard of anyone else having problems.

As Dave says there might be another reason why John was having a bad day (we all get them)

              Hello Jay,

I agrea with Dave, if you thought you where misstreated youshould have ask to speak to the owner , and put your case in a polite manner , but you had apology so time to move on.

as for dealings with Howes on line, and direct shoping at warehouse,

all ways had polite service, and value for money, and good after sales ,

so do your research before you buy and shop around , for best deals …

so sorry you had a rough time , but there is plenty of help here ……Larry…

I am astounded at Jays rant ,as a user of Howes from tie to time I have if anything found them careful when sending out items I have ordered down to checking with me if it is what I need .The resultant delay annoyed me at first but better to get what you need than get it wrong . As advice which I was given 40 years ago, speak quietly and slowly and allow the listener to get his word in without interuption and you usually win the day Michaelwink

I think we'll leave it there gents. Airing problems between buyers and sellers on Forums rarely achieves anything and it is a matter for the parties concerned to resolve.
