Andy. A nice little ship and representative of all those hard worked destroyers etc etc

A Rodney, go on, you want to. A Rodney could be a simple build, after all, it is just a big destroyer???

OR, having looked through the Myhobby store warship list, there are a few different models there. I like the pre-WW1 ships for something unusual, and classic..cant beat that black white and buff finish…ir go far east and use white and buff.

oddly enough I saw not a few landing craft plans there. I must say it never occurred to me to look for landing craft plans. I would not have followed them in any case…

Every man and his "fish "!!!! seem to be doing landing craft at the mo .IF i did a ww1 ship i reckon it would be my grandfathers old ship HMS THISTLE ,what class it is i don't know but it only had one gun and that was on the stern .My brother has pictures of it chasing the KONNISBERG up the Rufigi river in Africa .Grandpa used to joke that the enemy thought they were running away until they opened fire .Grandpa served under the Prince of Battenberg ,yes he was in the royal navy , and he said when they got the message that Victoria had died the prince ordered full steam and left a huge wake behind them washing the villagers mud huts into the river .Grandpa also saved the life of his skipper in china when he shot a sea snake ??? that was coming through the porthole of the skippers cabin as he lay sick in his bunk .Grandpa left the navy in 1919 and passed away in 1980 in his sleep at the age of 100 years and 9 months.

As for the nelson well it's still on my mind and will think on it for a bit a see what comes up .

HMS Thistle was a Bramble class gunboat 1899 – 1925 and has the distinction of being the last sailing warship in the Royal Navy.

How could a Victorian iron gunboat be a sailing ship……..is just one of the fascinating facts surrounding this ship.
