As my father recently passed away i would like to build the Amethyst ,the Royal Navy ship that was trapped up the yang tse river in china and shelled by Chinese communist forces .I intend to take a day trip to Borne mouth and buy it down there .Ok my question is what motor , single or twin ,props ,shafts , r/c kit and anything else in general

      Many thanks

          Andy,

Is the one you are buying built from the Deans Marine kit? If so why not contact Deans for the model's internals as they sell a range of products.

          Good film too!

Andy, if you are intending to visit Westbourne Models to obtain the kit then check that they have it in stock first. Alternatively you can order direct from Deans Marine.

As Tony says, Deans will be able to sell you the correct props, shafts couplings and motors for the model at reasonable prices although you will have to go elsewhere for the R/C gear and batteries. For best results you would need a 4 channel 2.4ghz set with one servo for the rudder and twin controllers for the props, ideally with a mixer as well. These smaller models will probably run best on a NiMH battery pack of perhaps 7.2v but again, if you buy the motors from Deans they should be able to tell you the best combination, you don't want the batteries to be too heavy!
