      Dear All

I've just acquired a one foot one design 70 year old wooden sailing boat model. She's very elegant but needs repair/re-rigging – but the hull is solid. She's one for the pond, not the shelf.

My modelling skills are very limited; can anyone recommend someone who might take on the repair of this for me (for the love of modelling or money…)?

      Huge thanks

      Alan, [email protected]

          Hi Alan

Try posting some photos then we can see what is involved.

Here you go – these show the current state. I also have old photos of it rigged – a simple gaff rig – which I could scan in if you were interested. Any help very much appreciated! Alan

              Hi Alan

The most pressing questions would be does it float and if so how does it sit in the water i.e.when floating is the stern or the bow down and where is the waterline.

Whilst checking all of this mark on the hull where the waterline is.

How do you want the model to look when complete (painted or varnished)

              Paul

She floats fine – perfectly level. She has a lead keel/seems well balanced. I could put her in the bath/draw on the waterline if that would help.

She was my Grandad's – I sailed it as a kid. It's just that she was derigged to be touched up and never put back together again.

The deck is varnished. The hull painted white – she looks good like that so no need to change. Her name is White Heather so that sort of works.

Hope this is an interesting projct for you! Say if you would like me to give you a call to discuss.

                Thanks

                Alan

                  Hi Alan

Sorry to say but I havent the time to take on any external work.

But as the work involved is mainly cosmetic, just complete the rub down to the hull and repaint, clean up the deck and revarnish and then re-rig could you not have a bash yourself?

                      Hi Alan

Can you remember what the sail layout looked like?

                      rig 1 rig 2 rig 3

                                Rig 1                      Rig 2                     Rig 3

These are some basic gaff layouts do any look like what you remember?

                      Paul

Thanks – I have photos of the old rig – just not the skill to put it together!

                          Thats great

If you post the photos of the rig the might of the forum should be able to locate a rigging schedule and layout for you.
