Hi all, I'm quite new to model boating (but not helis and planes) having only built a springer tug so far.

im after a new model to build and use and I like the idea of a pilot launch. I've seen the Lesro for about £120 and the smaller trapletshop plan and wood kit for £59. Both are wooden construction and look ok. There's also the graupner multijet which is more an SAR boat but I like the looks and love the jet drives but it's £200!

anyone with advice and/or experience out there?

I built a 1:12 scale model of a Safehaven marine Intercepter 42' pilot boat some time ago, ( see here **LINK**&nbsp and passed all the moulds and mouldings on to Metcalf Mouldings who then passed it on to Models by Design ….he now produces the model as a semi kit….it's a totally different concept to what you have looked at…….but boy it's a nice model when finished and running on brushless motors.

It looks great and I've seen the semi kit on models by design's site. It just looks too involved for my second build as I wouldn't have a clue where to start!

Speedline had a nice looking kit on the end of their stand at Haydock. Might be the old HFM one brought back to life.

The Models by Design Interceptor 42 is due to be the subject of a review by Dave Abbott in the November issue of Model Boats which will be on sale on 28th September.
