Just a brief intro.Long time intermittent builder of model planes ,mainly R/C sport models both glider and power. First boat build was the KK Triton, with paper clip battery connectors that was only sailed in the bath.I have assembled a Surmount and Affinity 65 neither of which has sailed yet,

Currently building a Waverider 25 and modifying the wheelhouse area to resemble a Martham boats(Norfolk) having first been on one of their boats 60 years ago!

John. Good stuff. Nice to see, or at least hear from, someone who is progressing to building model boats.

Please set up and album and put some pictures of your projects for us to see.

            Welcome John,

Most of us on here have come via the same route, I still fly rc & sail boats, this was my first design a freelance Broads Cruiser, you will need the the fold down cockpit roof to get under the Potter Heigham bridge 😄

              Thanks for the welcome!

Waverider will have a canvas ( Antique Solartex if I can find my offcuts!) in the raised position.

As for Potter, we own a 1949 wooden gaff rigged 22' river cruiser  which will fit even at high tide, airdfaft is only 5'6" ish !

Unfortunatley she is still stuck in the shed at Martham after some winter tlc. Hope to have her back in early July(When we can get down for overnight stays)

              Cheers John

                Hello John,

I'm envious of your sailing cruiser, I have sailed full-size for 40 years, now I find the models easier and cheaper 😄

We had many family holidays on the Broads in the 70's on Porter & Haylett boats from Wroxham, i have never been able to track down the drawings they were quite desintive, but I do have old Hoseason 's catalogues with photos.

                Regards Ray

Funny you should mention P&H ,they built our little boat! Many holidays on hire boats, mainly sail after I started to hire rather than on family trips.Bought about 5 years ago. The arrival of the new Hoseason's ( and Blakes) was always a much anticipated event.Hired yachts on Windermere, the Great Glen and the Shannon but always ended up back on the Broads.

                    Hello John,

We visit the Broads most days which is quite a feat from Kent, we just love the Herbert Woods live webcam of the bridge & broadband tour 360 deg camera 😄 Martham also has camera on the Horning sailing club website ! But expect you knew that 👍

                    Regards Ray

Yes ,I am also regular visitor to the webcams! The Martham one only appears when the 3 Rivers race is on,but has been frozen for a while. 3 Rivers cancelled this year expect the Martham and Acle to disappear soon.

I'm outside Leeds so a bit of a trek for me.

                      John
