I'm building a boat with some railings around the deck. I'm using some brass stantions and black thread, small stuff less than 1mm in diameter. My puzzle is how to glue the thread to the stantions, the thread passes through each one and i'd prefer not to tie them. Also each one needs to be secured so I get some tension between each stantion. I could use 5 min epoxy but i'd have to do each stantion in turn and that will take some time (there are 20). I have a love hate relationship with superglue and I suspect it will simply wick along the thread. And I use proper superglue as well not just the generic stuff you get from supermarkets. So I need some advice on some suitable glue please.

You could try a small blob of thick cyano superglue, applied with a cocktail stick; the edge of a scalpel blade or from a thin dispenser spout. This shouldn't wick along the thread. You can also give each joint a blast of cyano accelerator ("zapper&quot to speed up its setting time. You will, however, need to treat each joint separately,

            Hello David

If you intend painting the stantions and thread handrails

Just pull the thread tight and paint the lot?

You could also use brass wire?…..If you need any sag, bend it in the wire

Take a look at Bob Wilsons models…..He always uses wire and they look perfect!

Thanks for all your replies, much appreciated. Although I like the copper wire idea i'm going to try the thick cyano first, and if that fails try the copper wire. I' ll probably end up stuck to the boat myself.
