has anyone come across this phenomenon with the futaba transmitter/reciever

i ve set it up all ok esc has forward / reverse , servo works correctly and can be reversed if needc be

my concern is that i was under the impression that if i turned the transmitter OFF whilst reciever is ON ( to simulate loss of signal ) the motor would stop and .according to the instructions the rudder will revert to the neutral posision which i will do, but the motor either switches to reverse and reves furiously or stays at the setting it was at when signal is lost ie trans turned off.

i would have expected the system to shut everything down for saftey reasons, as it does with my planet t5 set

im pretty sure it can be made to perform this function but quess i m missing something to make it happen ?

        any ideas gratefully recieved

        rgds

          Peter,

Sorry to sound rude, but I have to ask the question "have you read the manual?" because

Page 63 – 64 deals with setting the failsafe as you want it to function. The default is for flyers, throttle full back therefore low or off.

Other settings can be made for ALL the channels.

          Kim.

ive explored these pages of instructions but not initially with any sucess to influence the ESC.

i can control the servo for the rudder which will revert to staight ahead when signal is lost, but ESC either continues at the speed it was set at when the sigal went down or reverts to reverse at full speed for some puzzeling reason

i will have a fresh look at it again with a clear head and report back

            thx

              Hello Peter,

I have to say that I found setting the 6J failsafes the easiest and best part of the whole kit. I'm on record on this forum for my angst against failsafes especially on the cheaper sets where the failsafe is locked on the receiver and cannot be changed. With the 6J at least you can change it on every channel, OR TURN IT OFF which on a boat makes some sense until one realises that a signal lost whilst at full speed makes one's boat a danger to other boats and potentially to observers as well. Why it could lead to banishment from public waters, which has happened in the past to certain types of boating activity (i/c engines, fast electrics, steam to mention a few).

There are two sections on failsafe settings, the first deals with battery and diminishing voltage triggering the failsafe, the second section covers S-FHSS receivers and such, and continues over the page to general setting of failsafes for all channels, sticks switches and the rotating dial channel 6.

              Aye, Kim

ok ive gone back to it again and discovered my error ( basically not reading the istructions properly !!)

my schoolboy error was not holding down the data input key after the channel i was working with to save the setting now everything working tickady boo

on turning off the transmitter , to simulate signal loss rudder returns to straight ahead position and esc/motor powers down ans stops within appx 1.5 – 2 seconds which is exactly what i wanted

your original assumption of "have you read the manual" was correct i did read it but did nt take the info properly

i now feel confident to explore the fully facilties the set up has to offer

                thank you for your patience
