Thanks for the comments on my first scratch build … I’m honoured.

 

Running gear is two 480 motors, two Mtroniks ESC and 9.6 battery pack.

 

Still struggling slightly with ramp … trying different springs for the mechanism.

 

Next project is already on the go …. Florida Swamp Boat …. again another scratch build, but this time with brushless motor, 10 x 5.5 prop … not sure which batteries to use yet as I’m a little worried about comments regarding Lipo’s.

ALan let me put your mind at rest regarding the safety of LiPo bty’s I have used them in  model aircraft for about  3 yrs now with zero incidents. However initial cost can be prohibative you’ll need a proper balanced charger and you need to be carefull about brand and the physical loading of the bty’s also you’d need to get a LiPo specific ESC that cuts out at the correct voltage to prevent deep discharge Quite a few rules but simple enough to do my guess is that to equip for LiPo would cost under £40 forthe charger and about £20 each for a 3cell (11.1v) 1800 bty. if you want to know more give me a PM and I’ll point you at a couple of experts to advise you
