FAIL SAFE DEVICE

Hi does any one know are there any failsafe devise for model boats with electronic speed controllers,? as my ESC does not have one built in.

I have seen loads on the market but they all seem to be for IC engine type boats & cars, not sure I these would work on ESC.

Can any one advise?

firstly can we ask what transmitter/receiver set are you using, the manufacturer's name and model please. If it's a 2.4Ghz set OF ANY MAKE it will have a failsafe (somewhere) guaranteed, and on the default throttle stick.

If its a 27 or 40 MHz set then yes, if you want a failsafe you can by a unit and plug it in line between the receiver and the ESC.

Most ESCs for boats tend to stop giving an output on loss of signal. However, some "smart" radios now carry their own version of a failsafe, which is often anything but safe because they generate their own signal which they pass to the ESC.
