this is the first large r/c/boat I have built and I am not familiar with the electronics so need some help here,

I have the motor (huge) 12/24v speed controller, radio gear, 4/ 6v batteries, lights and am looking for smoke generator and sound card cant find a decent old steam boat sound and no one seems to have the smokey in stock or a complicated way of ordering it

          Hi Mick

I build my own smokers if you go to Maplins, they have a mini mist unit, they sell the discloser to mount the units in. They say that the units will not work on DC, but they will, if you decide to make your own, I'II watch for your post.

JJC Old Smokey was discontinued several years ago.
The Steam Master is the latest smoke/steam unit. British-made but quite expensive **LINK**
MMB Foggy unit is available from Marks Model Boat Bits. **LINK**
Harbor Models make the best and biggest one on the market but it ain't cheap, especially after shipping and import taxes

Have you read Dave Milbourn's article on electrics which you can access from the website home page? Lost of concentrated useful info there.

                    Hi Colin…

I have the Winter 2013 Model Boat mag and the Wattle construction by John Parker, is followed by the very interesting article by Dave Milbourn on understanding Electronics, are articles I go back to on a regular basis.

I have also seen the book by John Cundell ( Radio Control in Model Boats)… and wonder if this is also a mine of information…?

                    Best regards,

                    Ian

I know how you feel…Its a great part of the build, to me when I assemble the ribs and plank the hull.

Once I get to the resin and sanding stage, things slow down with the drying stage and start to look for new ventures.. it takes staying power, to finish…lol
