Aluminium sheet used to be available in three grades: Hard, Half-Hard and Soft. The Soft grade could be bent/deformed in the fingers and was typically used for things such as sealing washers or rings. The Half-Hard grade would "take a bend" and the Hard grade was for anything that remained flat. However it was possible to soften/anneal Hard grade sheet in the location of a bend by applying a gentle heat and rubbing the surface with the non-working end of a matchstick until each `rub' left a black line on the surface. This indicated that the surface had reached the correct temperature and that area was bendable.

012.jpg006 (4).jpghi there, 0.5mm brass sheet, 400mm square, 4 off from Ebay – a pack of jewellers fret saw blades and an old fret saw if you haven't got a jewellers saw. A plan from Traplet Plans photocopied and glued on; then chain drill into the spaces to be cut out with a 1mm high speed drill bit and a Dremel drill; then followed by filing with a small set of files and Bob's your uncle – easy peasy; lemon squeezy as they say – it just takes a bit of patience and time

              HI

Have you looked at 3D printing your paddle wheels,I had my 1:200 scale model Great Eastern paddles made this way, they look great mind you as they have 15 paddle blades per wheel they are not very efficient.as there too many paddles in the water at one time. One paddle just coming out,one in,and one ready to enter the water for better

Or make them from plastic sheet { I think its ABS that I used } to make the paddle for my 1:36 Eccleshall tug.

. Have a look at the Paddle Ducks Forum they can help you.

              Cheers
