Question, how exactly are we posting the plans on the site ?? At a miserable 250k or whatever?  I suppose this would do to give the basics of your design. My 1/4 size Noah`s Ark will never be done justice at only 250k.  My PAD tool is already busy (Pencil Aided Design-HB)

Good question. I would say one entry per person, personally…unless there are only 3 entries in which case you could bung in another few for interest ! (snowing here as well)   Ash

As far as I can see only three people have commited to entering this competition.

Don’t be put off by the thought of being embarrased by the simplicity of your design or any lack of drafting skills as an origonal concept is far more valid than the ability to produce scale perfect drawings.

So come on chaps show a little spirit and don’t let the side down get your pencils out as we all have deep within us that little 10 year old who doodled boats during boring lessons…….dig deep into your memories and reserect one of these childhood concepts.

Paul, If I actually make an ice breaker, and it actually works (assuming we have some more ice to break!)  i might submit that as my design. as fullfilling the novel and working aspect, not to mention cheap and easy.

Or I might see how it goes and continue my IKB idea……… electric though as I dont have the facilities for a custom steam plant.     Ashley

                                    Morning Ashley

An icebreaker would be an excellent choice for a design for someone with your wide experience of model building especially as it comes with a few inherent design problems as Bob has already pointed out.

Getting the balance of hull strength and engine power to overall size and weight will be a considerable challenge if you are to avoid creating an 2.5m, 250kg monster that can only be transported and launched by trailer.

As I am sat here writing this I have been thinking about the design and ultimate use of such a model and the problems that breaking ice involve and as I solve one problem that solution raises yet another problem.

                                    This is a real challenge.

                                    Paul

Paul. Yes, a challenge…however I have a feeling that the only way to get one working is to build something and see what happens!   My design is going to be very crude, and so should allow mods in the light of failiure.    Ashley
