Times do change, you are quite right. Very few young people can cope with anything practical! – this is also having a knock on effect to the older generation too. A visit to yacht day at the local club last week, there were many ready-to-run sailing models in evidence, a couple with pre made hulls. No one had built there own hulls or cut their own sails. Average age was the over 60's.

Same at our club, North West Model Shipwrights. There are not many models to be seen at the meetings these days, although we do have a good day out, talking about things nautical.

I am giving a talk at the local library in Penwortham, Preston on the 29th, but so far there are only 7 signed up for it!

I dare say they will be very interested and attentive while I am giving it, and then go away and forget all about it!

It's a sad situation, and no better down here either. Every thing is instant gratification, if it's broke, buy a new one and if you don't get the hang of it straight away, give up.

Hmmm. Cant think of anyone at Bushy who has an RtR. I think Andy bought a small sailboat on a whim a couple of years ago…but other than "visitors" we all do our own thing.

I have been completely recovered from Tennis Elbow for several weeks now But the break of several months has made me lose all interest in building model ships!

Am currently wondering if it will come back again.
