Tommy, I have only recently built an MFA FAntome using all the MFA bits as specified. The first question is, did you use an MFA supplied motor and ESC pack? the ESC as supplied  has a half speed reverse with delay, so you cant bash the boat in full reverse by simply pulling the stick back. MFA advises against using FULL reverse in case the props unscrew…….    So, the first question has to be,….do you have the connection to the motors from the ESC the right way round?? this would give you the slow forward and quick reverse, and explain why your prop is coming off. I didnt like the same-handed choice of props for this boat and have replaced them with a pair of left and right hand brass items, although the performance stayed the same. These are big props on a large 5mm shaft and should be done up very tightly See my thread “I fancy an MFA Fantome”
Any pictures of the beast ???? Do you have any figures to drive it yet? are you GOING to fit any figures?  My Fantome went together with absolutely no hitches or mods all ok first time.

I would fit locking back nuts or drill / tap and fit locking grub screws to the props so that they could never unscrew themselves.

hello ashley we have spoke b4 i have mechanicl speed controlers. i tried to put some pictures on a while ago but it was taking a life time for them to be sent .will try again soon,if i come across any figures i will fit them. i no you said they are hard to come buy you could try your local pound shop they often have dolls of diff sizes.you never no you might just find the right size.i had no hitches with building it just when it went in the water for the first time but this is my first boat and i had a feeling there might be some teething problems.but not to worry its took a long time to get this far due to spare time so i can wait some more while i sort things out. tommy

Paul. The standard props are nylon/brass inserts so its a bit  difficult to do as you suggested. Brass ones no probs of course, but I can tighten the brass ones up much tighter than the plastic jobs. I have not lost a prop yet !!!
O.K, I have lost a  few  blades now and then, including the Sunderland, both Starboard ones when I ,er, actually it MUST have been the lads fault, thinking about it, crossed my path with some jolly old hun job !

the fantome is fixed tightened the 2 nuts at the top and bottom of the prop ,i have sorted out the speed as well had to adjust the speed controllers. so it had its first sail last night and ran well and i am pleased with my first try at boat building and will be looking for a new boat soon tommy
