British brig

The brig rig was the first to become obsolete. After the mid 1850s, the most popular rigs were three masted full-rigged ships and barques, and the number of brigs went into a sharp decline. By the 1900s, there were only a handful left under British registry. Here is the sail plan a typical brig of the early 1860s, with single topsails.
