Book on radio control installation

Hi …

I was wondering if anyone knows of a good all round book to help with installation of the wiring for radio control boats and all the aspects servos , motors and all the extras… sound lights radar and all that?

Book and or DVD..

There are one or two wiring diagrams here……**LINK** and here **LINK** Naturally they are aimed at owners or prospective purchasers of ACTion stuff but the principles can be applied to other manufacturers' equipment.

I have an Excel spreadsheet which tabulates the units on each diagram and allows you to filter out what you need e.g. you can specify a single motor with lights, bow thruster and horn; or perhaps twin motors with bow thruster and engine sound. PM me with your regular E-Mail address for a copy .

The big trouble with books about anything electronic, ever since electronics happened, is that by the time the experience has been gathered, the book written, edited, published and made it out to the world, half of it will be out of date.

In the elder days when I was learning about electrickery, the best source of current information was magazines. Even magazines could drop off, like when one of them rand a 10 part series on building a calculator. The magazine carrying the last episode also carried the first advert for the Science of Cambridge pocket calculator. Nowadays its sources on 'tinterweb especially forums like this and the links that they turn up where the up to date information lives.

Very true and I find the people round here are as yourself very helpful and understanding for the novice.

This fascinating hobby covers so much of science and the practical things encompassed.

As we learn, each level of boat building, we all fall fowl of build methods and it seems my lack of knowledge falls on the electricery side of things and once all my build experience and expense with parts and time come to a climax it is the installation of the latest electronics and radio control will make the build come to life and not fizzle out or burn out.

After all the time mixing with you good people, I look through the model Boat mags and see so many great ideas and use them as reference. But as you say…. things move on so fast and find myself looking for the best design for the model build of the day.

I have been going through the wiring diagrams and components fit for each boat use.. its probably better than any book I could find as you have very kindly explained what each Action unit does, this is great for the novice and very very helpful… Many thanks …for taking the time.
