Hi William and welcome to the forum.

By strange chance I have played with something remarkably similar a cuple of years ago.

The cat was purchased by someone who just wanted the outboards (he bought two cats!) as buying the boats complete with r/c and so on was cheaper than buying the same spec outboards on their own>

He was going to bin the hulls but I grabbed one off him for a fiver (minus the gear of course).

I have put a simple brushed speed 600 in there with a short shaft, shaft level with the estimated waterline when planing, and fitted a Graupner P50 hydro prop. It goes quite well, fast enough really and I have not felt the urge yet to replace the motor with anything hotter.

William. It is very nice to start with a blank hull. My conversion involved a lot of guesswork, and the criteria was low cost (bits I had in the spares box).

The boat goes very well, and the rooster tail shows the prop is at about the right height when on the plane. The rudder is ahead of and to one side of the prop and provides good manoeuvrability. In fact, the ability of these things to turn as they do at full speed always amazes me.

You have to be at the right place at the right time to take an opportunity like that. If it had been any more expensive I wouldn't have taken it to be sure. The thinness and quality of the fibre glass (is it?? looks like it) is stunning, as was the initial price for the whole set.
