The Airboat bug has truly bitten and this is my second offering in its early build stages aptly named “Air II”

Vital stats so far are oa length 400mm beam 195mm I’m using 5mm depron for the formers/bulkheads and 2mm depron for the underside and deck. As you can see from the uncovered section the inside of the hull is sub divided both latererally an longditudally to increase strength and provide integrity in the case of the skin being punctured. Vital areas (bty and rx bays) have been reinforced inside with  1/16th balsa sheet.

and that forward spray deflector has been fashioned from the lip of food packaging tray

As for a power plant I’m torn between a 150w electric ducted fan or a 100w brushless outrunner turning something like a 7″x5″ prop. hopefully I can keep the weight below the 484gr that Air 1 came out at and with the more powerfull motor get a blistering turn of speed. time will tell

it was from north america bob just south of new york state and like the slo mo she’s resting at the min I need to earn some more money  for all the bits I need fibre glass and yacht varnish are pretty expensive and hols are looming.

Talking about the slo mo I spotted a brushless motor/esc combo that would suit it down to the ground I’ll message you a link to it later.

Your welcome Bob. now just a couple more shots as you can see the bty hatch will be huge. next on will be the motor pylon I’m going for a prop as with an EDF fitted I might be making it far to fast for the aerodynamics

Not  quite that fast Bob  I now have the decks finished and the pylon. A cabin will be formed on the forward hatch that will run back to the aft of the pylon and up to the underside of the air vent on the pylon

and a quick shot of a salty sea dog (aka my little helper) inspecting the workso far
