Went into town today and thought I would have a look round the last remaining toolshop – GONE! Now selling bins of sweets! Looks like the demand for such things as tools, in Britain, has dropped to an all-time low! Much easier doing things on a computer, I suppose, & living in a "virtual" world!
If you can't beat them – join them! so I haven't started anything at all since completing the Barden, but am continuing with technical drawing of ships plans. I am currently about quarter way through drawing up plans for a steel-hulled full-rigged ship.

          Bob,

Are these modelmaking plans or simply plans? Are you intending to market them?

I am no expert, so they are probably part way between model making plans and real plans of actual ships. I will probably make a half-hearted attempt to sell some copies on Ebay, but have no realistic hopes that anyone will be very interested as they are small scale (A4 sheet). My main plan is to use them for illustrations in either articles or books as permission to use plans from museums , especially the National Maritime Museum is extortionate, to say the least.

This is my 2nd attempt – sail plan of the Welsh brig Evelyn, 1877 – 1913. The deck plan has also been completed.

              Bob,

If you have not already done so then including hull sections or a bodyplan would make the drawings more attractive to modelmakers even if they are waterline only.

Evelyn looks nice above. Are considering having a go at steamships as well?

Yes, I have cross sections in preparation. Steamships are not so much of a problem. I have literally thousands of small plans in old journals, plus permission to use them as I wish. Sailing ships are a different matter though, as permission to use them can be very costly. Even so, merchant sailing ships are not all that popular unless they are tea clippers or the smaller wooden ones. I drew Evelyn because I wanted a plan of a brig. I am currently working on plans of the steel full-rigged ship Fairport of 1896. I have most of the details and photographs and have even seen the wreck lying in about 40 feet of crystal clear water at St. Helena. She was scuttled on fire with a cargo of coal in 1920.
