Am Fm ?

Afternoon all, I have a Futaba Attack 40Am set , I have been looking at additional receivers for my new projects. This might sound a daft question to those in the know, but is there a difference between Am and Fm , would putting a Fm crystal in my Am set work with a Fm receiver with Fm crystal ?. Also mine is a 2 channel set, if i get a reciever for a higher number of channels would it work for the 2 channels and the others be dead ? This might sound all over kill but I am looking for a small receicver to go into a plastic kit coversion so I am looking in to all options .

All bad news, I’m afraid. AM and FM are not interchangeable, and a 6-channel Rx won’t generally work on a 2 channel Tx. I’d advise you to go out and invest in a cheap and cheerful Chinese 5 or 6 channel 2.4GHz set – you’ll get change from fifty quid and the receivers are tiny.
