I wish to fit a 50mm – 8 ohm Myler speaker into my current project. Any suggestions/recommendations regarding the correct mounting i.e. does it need a baffle board?

with a baffle board or a small wooden box will make a huge difference as the speaker fires it gives waves from the front and the back you don't want the reverse sound bouncing back to the front destroys the sound

All speakers need a baffle board if you want them to be heard. The longer the air path from back to front, the better. If the back of the speaker can be enclosed in a container that doesn't let sound through, that is good. The bigger that space, the better. It also needs a clear air path in front, to let the sound out of the boat.

Hi David , I have mounted my speaker on a board flush with the top of the hull and used the hull as a BOOM box as they say and it sounds great .
