The Excalibur is based on plans of an american schooner, but I changed the lines of the bow and stern a little in a more "scandinavian" look. The Dalwhinnie is based on Harold Underhills plans of the Brixham Trawler Valerian. GA (and the name) are changed, because she is not fishing – she is smuggling whiskey instead!
Both sailing boats are handling with 4 servos each. 1 servo for the rudder and the sails are divided in 3 sections with 1 servo each. In that way they are much easier to handle and you could sail them more like the real boats.
For the moment I am building a three-mast schooner, William Ashburner, after plans from Harold Underhill. Scale 1:45. There will be 5 servos to sail her. As the other sailing ships, the hull and sail area will be to scale and no extra keel or enlarged rudder.
And Ian – I looked at your albums, I am really impressed by the finish of your boats, I really can´t reach that level. Does not have the patience! When i have ca 25 % left of a model to build, most of my mind is in the next project.
