This should be interesting!…….Are you using Litho? As it doesn`t look like card

I would suggest you stop plating just below the water line, as the curves get very tricky

Take your time and maintain accuracy

Larry, I think styrene sheet may be too soft and will damage easily?

I am also watching this with interest.

Bob has suggested a similar finish for my balsa wood version. This seems like an excellent idea as most of know the problems and time required to get a obtain a good finish on this type of timber.

Didn't Glynn Guest finish the hull of his PS Phantom blockade runner in a similar manner?

I soon realised the merits of card plating over a semi finished hull!

What`s the point of all that filling and sanding just to make it look like a FG jobbie?

I used card about 0.012" thick and PVA

Hi all back on with rivtting detail using styrene stuck to hull with double sided tape calledJantec ,

from my building consruction day used to stick water proffe membraines seams sticks

like ..#### to a blanket, done a before and after demo showing plain hull painted black and a

rivett detail with bit of weathering , i now wich one i like , right Bob…..

Good morning Bob..

Thank you for boost, i have a lot of plank decks using tape no problems yet had one complety fliped over dry out with no lifting , but will try card and pva nest on plagenet tug in the new year…..

Protruding rivets look really nice when painted

For the deck, you could use stiff card with the planks drawn on and glued down with PVA and a few coats of varnish. As I did on Jeanie Deans and GE

Hi every body, …….

And a Happy new year to all the boaters out there….

now fitted bulwarks on GUARDSMAN used .75 mm styrene with braces and rail the same..

anda put little paint work on deck structures .. added a bit of rivetts detail corn flake packets…..

will put a detail on bulwarks as well lined the deck but more work to fade it down …

and a bit of weathering …….cheers Larry….

Hello Again,

a bit more progress , deck structures complete scratch built winch ,in primer

dont macro pictures bring out the blemishs , but will be all right at the end…

pleased with rivetts and funnel….. RC works next and a bit of snaging to do …..

weather not helping…………cheers Larry……

Hello ,

Thank you for nice comments , be doing a bit of scratch building , I/E p/s and running lights,

using odd bits from my bibs and bobs,

photos show the items used …….flag sticks from discarded jubille flags maping pins

wooden beads , boot sale map pins worked in drill , rubber washers for life buoys,

cheaper than bought items , and lok to bad when tidyed up and fitted,

and a nice way to spend a cold afternoon ……..what you think ……..LARRY….

Hello,

I had a day on the pool with grandson Alex, had few boats to give a airing GUARDSMAN

ballest test , needed a needed about 2lb and as water ingress at shaft end back to the work shop…

Fireboat the aquired boat for Alex back end rebuilt new 400 motor fitted 15amp ESC 9vlt batt pack

turning 30mmm xprop , it realy went well Alex now hooked on model boats,

HDML needed a airing to try out installed ACTION bits a duel prop ESC , and a sound box mp3

player sought from China cost £6 bought 3 0f them , worked realy well …

a free sound bites of the net….

and it was time to give John King a chug around , goes for ever on 12vlt set up ….

i have posted a few pictures …Alex now wants to build is own boat ,

i think a Glynn Guest plan is on the cards …….
