Hi Larry

Yes these were built from the original ModelBoat Plans, but scaled down to 75% I think.

They are not mine but a member of Southport MBC , the plan was from the July 1977 issue. These 2 were built for the kids to have a go with on the pond, The owner , like me has also built the full size one and the pictures can also be found in my photos. Mine is under reconstruction.

i am at thepaint finish stage at the moment, put deck on to plank finsh useing

Larry, very deluxe I must say , planking and wotnot. Including any figures in the cabin? I would be tempted to paste a sort of photo montage of figures on the inside of the windows, like a printed tin toy…

Oddly enough whilst having a rummage in the draws, as you do, I just happen to find the other day the cover and free insert from a 1975 “model boats” magazine (price 35p) featuring BOBBY ..

I noted a MacGregor 1+1 was used in the prototype, powered by an orbit 705 with an x35 prop and 4x SAFT 1.2v cells.

It says the orig hull design was featured in “radio control models and electronics” in 1963,

Still going strong, eh? as one would expect from a Vic Smeed original design i suppose.

Its odd, from a top 3/4 view its a nicely dumpy stable shape,but that head on shot makes it look scarily tall and thin!!

Like it, like the crew man, sorry officer, the driver. Needs a flag I think to finish off??

mine as a 540 motor 3 5 mm 3 blade nylon prop , 6vlt 4.5 lead acid batt,…..

Hi Larry. Thanks…….I have a 380 motor 7.2 nimh battery and 30mm 3 blade brass prop..same as you waiting for weather..might try it next wednesday. Tried to keep the weight down, hence the 380. Have you noticed the Bobby thread seems to be all over the place..its now in 2 bits all muddled up
