Those classic designs never age, do they? Lovely work Ray.

            wm box.jpgwm on deck.jpgHi All,

I had a terrific day aboard the fullsize White Marlin with Dave the owner, and met many other folk from the Dunkirk Little Ships Association with their boats all gathered to celebrate the Coronation. The ply carrying box worked well on the overground and underground railways from Maidstone to St Catherine's Dock adjacent to Tower Bridge. Everybody had a go at helming the model round the basin, a first boating session in London for me

Dave made me a good offer for the model, so she now has a new very happy owner

            Regards Ray wm st cats.jpg

Sounds like you had a great day Ray. Congratulations all round. So nice to see the coming togther of full size and scale versions of the same boat.. Not something that happens very often and certainly worth a celebration.

Maybe a piece in the magazine if you have the photos?

              Colin

What a brilliant day Ray and you did well to get your model there unscathed!

You will have to build another one now!

                    Chris

                      Hello Jim & Chris,

I have filled the space already with a Norfolk Wherry which came on the market ,GRP hull & deck but beautifully detailed and rigged , I will keep you posted just putting the new radio gear into it

I could easily spend the rest of my days building Dunkirk Little Ships such is the apparent demand once they saw White Marlin, but at the moment L'Orage is looking favourite as it was owned in the past by Raymond Baxter who started the Association, what a brilliant back story for a design & build ??

                      Regards Ray (raining again !!)

                        Hey Ray,

I cannot wait to see the Wherry you have aquired. I have the lines plans etc for Albion, and need to get round to taking her on, in amongst the Broads cruiser, yachts and dinghies lining up.

                        Cheers

                        Paul

                          Hi Paul,

There are photos on the Thames Barge Stuff thread or in my album "Ray's Boats"

She is a beauty at 1/24th scale 52" long and the hull based upon Gleaner and she is clinker built

                          Regards Rayaltair side view.jpg

Wow Ray, that is some first class model indeed. Where did you manage to obtain her from. Very nice. I hope to get around to dusting off Albions lines plans, but of course first Ring of Light for model boats mag, then I shall be building a classic Broads yacht, hoping for Model Boats mage too perhaps.

                            Best,

                            Paul
