As a matter of fact, Banjo……I've been eyeing up the contents of the VGC cabin, for goodies

But can't bring myself to do it

I will have to do something about the empty space though

        Hi Bob

The original had a Kent circular clear view screen in the port side front window, which I have used an acetate circle with a 1/16 brass rivet in the centre, at your scale you could arrange a motor & belt drive to it

        Regards Ray

            Hello Captain

I was looking at the strange cube shaped objects on your last photo and couldn't figure out what they were so I showed Jane who said "they are sanding blocks" after some thought I replied "but they cant be sanding blocks……not on Bobs Silver Mist".

Looking more closely I thought 'good heavens they are sanding blocks' and feeling like St Paul on the road to Damascus (post epiphany) I had a sudden flash of all consuming realisation.

            Bob is sanding his model

Being of such national importance I have alerted the appropriate people and a reporter from the Manchester Evening News will be around later this afternoon with the ITV local news booked at 5.30pm.

              Oh….Very droll

Thank you, Paul…….All in good fun, eh?

Have you tried rubbing paintwork down with a Liquorice Allsort……….It makes a right mess!

Finally got round to ordering the brass for the railings……..Should have done it weeks ago

              All the best, my mate

                Hi Bob,

Nice work on the decks and railings, that looks fab. Also good to see the filler patches on the hull, I think it'll turn out brilliant once you got all the nicks and bumps sorted. I am imagining this vessel on the water with a nice satin or matte finish, that would suit the boat good.

Current lack of progress is down to us getting out in the Campervan again………Betws y Coed, this time

Came back to find a PO card behind the door………The railings wire has arrived!

                    Hi chaps

The PC has upgraded itself this morning for what seemed several hours and the whole system is in apparent chaos! Windows 10 has a lot to answer for

The picture section, somehow imported a vast number of old photos from outer space!

Have now erased them all, but be in trouble in a few minutes

                    We`ll see…….Here goes……

Finished the cabin railings now, using the correct brass wire

                    They may need levelling later

Well, I seemed to have been successful after all!……….Now for the rear railings

                    Bob

                      Hello Bob

The railings look quite nice but what are the circular bases made from?

You could try dumping Win 10 and revert to Win 7

                        Hello Paul

Trust you to spot the chrome washers!………I could make brass ones if deemed necessary?

With reference to the Win10 update….

When I switched off last night, it said……."Switch off or update and switch off"………So without realising the consequences, I selected…….Update

So the update is down to me

The masses of photos that appeared must have come from the camera card which was supposed to be wiped clean every time I downloaded a photo!

Can't really go back to Windows 7……….I haven't the knowledge these days

                        Bob

Just an update of the current situation, for my faithful band of browsers

Nothing worthy of a photo at the moment, chaps

Working on the rear deck planking, prior to fitting the rear handrails

Not looking too clever at the moment, due to unevenness, hopefully, the Jolley Boat will hide most of it?

Having to use brute size 36 grit industrial abrasive on the deck…….Due to having panel pinned a few planks down with fine brass panel pins…………Which have turned out to be steel!

But we are getting there now

You could have used a nail punch to push the nails below the surface.

                                    All

Beware when buying 'Brass' fittings from DIY shops as the majority of items are just brass plated steel……..real brass fittings are expensive and very difficult to find. Take a magnet with you when buying as this simple test could save you time and money.

That's a useful tip, Paul, I'll bear that in mind, but I do have a special gadget that does the same action

Made by Bohler, it has a 10mm square patch of abrasive, that oscillates……..Got a photo in the files somewhere

I've made do with a brass wire brush for now

Pleased to report, that our pal Duckie has bought himself a wooden barge kit

That should keep him occupied for the next few months

The bamboo decks look nice especially with that yellow/green tinge. Its a material that I have never used before so how difficult is bamboo to work with?

Does it splinter or shatter when cutting and how well does it sand?

Currently feeling fed up as I cant decide on a winter project, Ryan would like me to do something futuristic so I have been dabbling again with tilting hulls and the Banshee design

Like many other folk I have installed cameras in my car simply to protect my no claims bonus when some nutter pulls a stupid stunt.

Mine cost under a tenner each and come on automatically when I start the car, 40 hours of full colour data is stored on a removable flash card.

                                                      That's sound advice Paul…….Many thanks

I was only looking at them, last week in PC World and marvelling how inexpensive they were!

                                                      I'll get a couple right now……..At only £8.95 each!

In this case I won't be making a claim, since the bill is comparatively low
