YEP, another knacked boat to the KNACKERY SLIPWAY !!!

This one has had a poor life so far, but that’s about to change.

It many have started out well with very good coat of vanish.

60-65 years on it’s time for new brushless motor and chine rails.

I always liked the look of that kit but couldn’t afford it when I was a boy. Good luck with the refurb.

SLEC do an updated version of the kit for £95.

          Hi Colin

Yes, I know, but this is history and it’s an Aerokits for sure.

            Hi Harry,

I wasn’t suggesting that you should buy the SLEC version, you are obviously enjoying the challenge, but others might like the design and like to have a go at it.

                Hi All

Cleaning the boat and sanding down the outside.

Adding chine rails which will hide some of the mess at the bow, hopefully !!!

                  Hi All

Working on the forward deck area.

I maded the forward deck go back pass the second frame because the orginal side decks required trimming because of the old nail holes.

                  New forward cabin window frames.

                  Chine rails installed.

                    She’s looking good Harry 🙂

Amazing what can be done with an old boat if you can be bothered , well done, it’s probably 60 years old at a guess .

                    Regards Ray

                      Hi Lads

It’s a bit slow in the workshop as we are selling our sea side shack and winter has arrived down under.

I have made anew front window section and replacing the forward deck.

I have taking it back pass the original position so I can cutout the ends of the side decks with the nail holes.

It’s all getting planked over in the finish.

I have made the rear floor in two sections, the stern deck and a cabin door.

                          HI All

                          I had my computer die.

But, I have done a lot to the boat including a boat stand.

The chine rails installed, forward deck and a new stern deck.

The forward roof was a total write off, so making a new one with it finishing along the windscreen lines.

                            Hi All

Well the forward cabin roof turnout nice with new windscreens and side wind frames.

Again the stern roof was scrapped and a new one started.

The side supports will be fixed to the roof and the bottom end will thru the deck.

Sitting on the cabin floor supports.

The cabin floor is split down the middle for battery access.

Well done you have certainly made a silk purse from the old boat 🙂 we have missed your communications from down under !!

Lovely job on the cabin roof.  It certainly looks strong enough to allow you to beat the skin into submission and get it to conform to a complex convex shape.

Back in the day I lusted for an Aerokits Sea Rover but, at around 50 shillings, it was beyond my pocket money so I had to settle for the Fast Patrol Launch. With a Taycol Asteroid motor and an Ever Ready dry battery it was anything but fast unfortunately.

I built a Veron Trident Trawler when I was about 13 -14. For some reason I put Taycol Meteor motor in it. Vastly over powered.  Think I’m on my third motor in it now. It must be  60 + years old now.

                                          Tim,

I remember the Trident, it was a nice looking model. About the same time I was building the Veron Trident tug. I didn’t make a very good job of it and it was eventually scrapped.
